Framesize evaluation
Use the following table to determine your correct bicycle frame size.
(The table for children bikes you find below of this page!)
Body height | MTB / Dirtbike | Racebike | Trekking-/Citybike
frame size | approx. | Frame height | Frame height
155 - 165 cm | 14 - 15" | 35 - 38 cm | 48 - 51 cm | 47 - 50 cm |
165 - 170 cm | 15 - 16" | 38 - 41 cm | 51 - 53 cm | 50 - 52 cm |
170 - 175 cm | 16 - 17" | 41 - 43 cm | 53 - 55 cm | 52 - 55 cm |
175 - 180 cm | 17 - 18" | 43 - 46 cm | 55 - 57 cm | 55 - 58 cm |
180 - 185 cm | 18 - 19" | 46 - 48 cm | 57 - 60 cm | 58 - 61 cm |
185 - 190 cm | 19 - 21" | 48 - 53 cm | 60 - 62 cm | 61 - 63 cm |
190 - 195 cm | 21 - 22" | 53 - 56 cm | 62 - 64 cm | 63 - 66 cm |
195 - 200 cm | 22 - 23" | 56 - 58 cm | 64 - ? cm | 66 - ? cm |
Also you can determine your frame size with the help of your inner leg length
- You must take off the shoes and undress up to the underwear. Depending on how your trousers are cut, it influences the measuring result otherwise too strongly.
- If you own a spirit level, you must pull this very horizontally between the legs upwards. With a book it just works, indeed, you should position yourselves to a door or wall, bacause your "measuring instrument" has to be exactly parallel with the ground.
- IMPORTANT: Measure really to COMPLETELY ON TOP. Only if you determine the distance between ground and the spirit level or the book correctly, your optimum frame height can be also charged at the end.
- Assist yourselves, if possibly, from another person while reading the measuring result.
- The value which you have determined now is your sttep length (step height).
Hardtail-MTB | Fullsuspension-MTB | Racebike | Trekking-/Crossbike
Step height multiply with: | 0,226 | 0,225 | 0,665 | 0,66 |
The result is the theoretical value of the frame height in inch. 1 inch corresponds 2.54 cm. |
The frame height of the triathlon frame is approx. 3.5 - 5 cm lower. Important: The result refers in the German measuring way! |
This result is the theoretical value of the frame height in cm. If you multiply the step height by the factor 0,259, you get the theoretical frame height in inch. (1 inch corresponds 2.54 cm). |

If the theoretical value is between two dimensions, take: |

The correct size for your children bike
The size of children bikes depends on the body height of the child. Children bikes are not divided by the frame heights, but by the size of the wheels in inch.
Body height | Wheel size in inch |
85-105 cm | 12" Wheel (30,5 cm) |
110-115 cm | 16" Wheel (41 cm) |
110-125 cm | 18" Wheel (46 cm) |
115-140 cm | 20" Wheel (51 cm) |
130-155 cm | 24" Wheel (61 cm) |
